The ORL GT3 Europe season has ended, Jānis Rācenis becomes the champion
Our team participated in the 12th season of ORL GT Europe, where one of our drivers also became the champion.
Jānis Rācenis, Gints Barons, Rūdolfs Dravnieks, Jorens Saulevičs and Elvis Lībietis participated in the Odyssey Racing League. Our drivers started in the rookie group.
This ORL season had a total of 6 stages with variable weather conditions.
The first stage was held at the Silverstone track, where Jānis Rācenis showed an excellent result in qualifying and at the end of the race.
In the qualification, Jānis Rācenis took the first place with an interval of +0.435 from the second position.
In the race, our drivers had a lot of battles and generally showed good results.
Jānis Rācenis won the Silverstone stage, Rūdolfs Dravnieks took 6th position, Gints Barons took 13th position and Jorens Saulevičs 30th position.
The next stage took place on the Hungarian track, where we encountered changing weather conditions.
Also in this stage, Jānis Rācenis showed a great performance, who took the first position in the qualification and won the Hungarian stage.
After a successful qualification, Rudolfs Dravnieks finished the race in 6th position.
And also at this stage, Gints Barons showed a better result than at the Silverstone stage. Finishing the race in 10th position after the judges’ decision to award a penalty.
But Elvis Libietis finished in 9th position, helping Gints Barons to maintain a perfect interval at the end of the race, so as not to fall to a lower position after receiving penalties. And here it was very clear what it means to ride in the same team and cooperate with each other.
Meanwhile, Jorens Saulevičs finished the race in the high 16th position and getting his first points in the ORL race.
At the Brands Hatch stage, the victory march is interrupted and the heavy rain prevents Jānis Rācenis from winning the third race in a row. In qualifying, Jānis Rācenis showed the 2nd fastest lap time and finished the race in 2nd position.
Meanwhile, Elvis Libietis finishes his race right behind with a small interval difference and gets the 4th position. Elvis was very stable in this race and the training paid off.
No matter how much Rudolfs Dravnieks doesn’t like the number 6, he still has to finish the race exactly in the 6th position, which is a good contribution of points for him in the overall standings.
Meanwhile, Gints Baron and Joren Saulevičs finished the race in 14th and 15th position. Gints Barons had a major crash in the middle of the race, where the trailing car skidded off the track without holding the brake pedal and slid back onto the track directly in front of Barron’s car, causing extensive damage.
One of the most difficult races on the Bathurst track, where it didn’t stop Jānis Rācenis from winning 2nd position again.
Joren Saulevičs finished in 14th position in this stage and got a good contribution of points, which paid off for him with a higher position at the end of the season.
Unfortunately, the other drivers did not start in this stage.
The fifth stage at the Valencia circuit, where the best results from the drivers of the DRS Esports team were shown.
Jānis Rācenis convincingly won this stage and announced himself as the ORL GT Europe Rookies 12 season champion, despite the fact that he had to drive one more stage.
Meanwhile, Elvis Libietis sets a stunning result this season and finished the race in 3rd position, getting on the podium.
Also Rudolfs Dravnieks, who sets the best result this season and finishes the race in 4th position.
Of course, with each stage, Joren Saulevičs sets better results and hard training pays off and finishes the race in 9th position.
The final stage on the Zolder track.
Jānis Rācenis became the ORL GT Europe Rookies 12 season champion and chose to rest and not participate in the final stage.
Meanwhile, it allowed Elvi Libietis to set the best result in this stage and finish the race in 2nd position.
Not far behind, Rudolfs Dravnieks finishes in 4th position and Jorens Saulevičs shows his best result, finishing the race in 5th position.
And Gints Baron finished the race in 7th position, who was involved in several contacts with other cars.
Overall, the season was very good and we have our own champion who was written in the history of ORL GT3 Europe.
We hope to see good results and high achievements in the future.
